Grand Central Freeze

I stumbled on an interesting website today called Improv Everywhere and just had to share what I thought was a rather interesting public demonstration. From their website here is the intro to the clip below
On a cold Saturday in New York City, the world’s largest train station came to a sudden halt. Over 200 Improv Everywhere Agents froze in place at the exact same second for five minutes in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station. Over 500,000 people rush through Grand Central every day, but today, things slowed down just a bit as commuters and tourists alike stopped to notice what was happening around them. Enjoy the video first and then go behind the scenes with our mission report and photos.

They also have a Social Network setup over at Ning so check that out as well. Who know you might want to even join up and do some Improv yourself.

I’ve seen postings and videos about this. It was entertaining to see how participants chose to freeze — one couple kissed for five minutes, one persona dropped a bunch of papers and crouched to pick them up. It’s so New York!

I saw this group on the Today show last week. It was really interesting! They have done other “performances” in other countries, as well. I think it’s kind of cool, but if I was really there and I didn’t know what was going on, I would probably be a little bit freaked out.

I saw this the other day also. Never heard of it before. It looks awesome! I have some friends I’ll have to tell about this. They would love to do something like this.

That was god-damn amusing.
Surreal humor makes us think about what we are doing with our own lives. It’s pretty cool. Thanks for sharing!
