Eclipse

Recently I decided to get back into photography, ok I admit I was never really good at it but hey I have this cool camera and I should at least TRY and get better right? Anyway the full lunar eclipse a few weeks ago offered a nice opportunity to see just how much I remembered about using the camera. This is my first attempt in a long while so let me know what you think. I have a few more coming up over the next few days.

This is a beautiful picture. I love photography and wanted to take one of this eclipse, but my camera is cheep and wouldn’t take a good one.

Sara,
Thanks! It was taken near the coast in South Carolina. The conditions were not perfect but the pictures turned out better than I had anticipated.

Holly,
You don’t need an expensive camera to take nice pictures some of the most interesting photos I have ever seen were taken by little pocket cameras. Mine is nothing special for night photography, and my lens is really slow but in this case since the moon was nice enough not to move too much it turned out great. Having a steady tripod is essential though since the exposure has to be for such a long time. Then again a sandbag on a banister or even a shutter delay helps make long exposures like this work. Don’t give up just because you don’t have a fancy camera, personally a more expensive camera makes for a lazy photographer. Yes mine is expensive but hey I am a professed gadgethead so what can I say ? Stick to it and remember NO ONE takes perfect pictures. All you are killing is electrons.

Your photo about full lunar eclipse is really good. Watching and photographing an eclipse of the Moon is a relaxing activity since it progresses at a leisurely pace.

Not a bad picture at all! You must have learned photography somewhere because you didn’t put the moon right in the middle of the picture. I really like this, keep them coming!

Wow, beautiful shot; you can really see the details of the moon. I like the halo, and great job composing the image. Very creative. Much more interesting than centered composition, or even following the rule of thirds. Keep up the good work.
