Confederates
Sticking with the cemetery theme, here is one from a local Confederate monument. It is an attempt at infrared so comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Is there a cemetary site with listings of cemetaries in Utah? (I’m looking for ones in Orem and Provo area for genealogy research).

Cemetery theme, never heard about it, but would like to know much regarding this site. It seems to be interesting and also might be a good one.

Maybe its because I’m colorblind, but the canon is photoshopped in, right?
April 14th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Hey Rick, try google it. I am sure you will find it

@Gus,
No it isn’t. The pic is an infrared which is why the cannon looks so different I suppose. All that black makes it seem to stand off from the background.

@Daniel,
That is a cannon.

Oops… never heard any of such thing and don’t have any knowledge about it. After reading it I would like to know more and would be glad to get more information.

Hi, I don’t know what you are trying to project here. I think the cannon, symbolizing death, is very interesting with the gravestones, but as it is right now, it just looks like some big black log that someone cut and pasted over a photo of a cemetary. Just my critique.

Seriously, is that a cannon in the middle of the graveyard, what is that doing there?
Also what is the infrared? i never heard of it being used in photos, till now I thought that the only thing IR is good for is data transfer at pathetically slow speeds

@Faraz
The cannon is a monument in that graveyard. It is a Confederate War Veterans graveyard. IR allows is just another version of filtering for photographs. Kind of gives it a different look. Thanks for the comment.

@Phyllis
I didn’t add the cannon, it is a monument in the graveyard. Thanks for the critique.

Is this really a cannon?

Very nice picture!!

Wow. I’m not really sure what you mean by infrared with this shot, but one thing is for sure: I definitely want a gigantic cannon mounted on my grave

Of all the things to choose to be a monument. Why a cannon? Why not a flag or a soldier?
May 9th, 2008 at 9:43 am
The picture is good i like it very much

The cannon seems to be howering above the grave stones
Perfect
May 9th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
whew! I’ve never seen a monument headstone like that! How interesting
May 10th, 2008 at 9:18 am
@Tinte
Yes it really is. It was one taken from Fort Sumter after the fort was retaken by the Confederates.

Only to adjust the colors.

@Cincinnati,
The cannon symbolizes power. Who wouldn’t want a cannon on their grave ?

nice pic
seem like have a deep meaning inside it

If I die, I would prefer a grave that’s simple. Just a house for me would be enough.

It does create an interesting effect with the cannon. To me it looks like the cannon is just floating in mid air. I think, in addition to the infrared effect on the image, the cannon was at the center of the focal point. The foreground and the background are both slightly less focused and are therefore not as crisp as the image of the cannon. Try replicating that with another object or a person.

I actually figured out the cannon right away. Since the image is labeled Confederates, it made sense to me. I guess I wouldn’t “get” the picture if I couldn’t figure out what the black thing was–I can understand that being frustrating. But I really like it, although I’m not too familiar with infrared. Good work, I say!

I was shocked at the first sight…
looked like some ghost or a spirit doing that lol
